Many patients do not know that an Anaesthetist is a fully qualified Doctor registered with the GMC.

The pages of this web site are designed to provide information to those patients who wish to know more and more especially provide reassurance to those who are about to undergo surgery under one of the many types of anaesthesia.

Many operations are usually carried out under general anaesthesia as a day-case procedure.  As a Consultant Anaesthetist I work in a team often with a Consultant  Surgeon and many other staff within the hospital environment. As a team we offer an appropriate anaesthetic and good pain relief. 

This combined “team” approach of both anaesthetist and surgeon has been developed as a technique over many years for your safety and comfort.
